The Commissioner's Office provides leadership, oversight and support to all of the divisions of Public Works and its employees.

• The Department of Public Works provides high quality services to the residents of Somerville while maintaining the City's infrastructure and guaranteeing a clean and safe environment in order to sustain a high quality of life.
• The Department administers and oversees the City's electrical lights and lines, engineering projects, street and private ways, refuse removal, environmental improvement programs, public buildings and grounds, parks and playgrounds, open spaces, school custodial services water and sewer lines, and weights and measures.
