SomerStreets

The City of Somerville has implemented a new program called SomerStreets. This program allows residents to explore the City by shutting various streets to promote safe walking, running, biking routes in various locations throughout the City. 

The third installment of the 2010 Somerstreets series will take place on lower Broadway Street, from Temple Street to Sullivan Square. Bicycle rental will be available as will bike valets for those who bring their bikes and wish to park them while undertaking other activities. Mural painting, a drum circle and various playground games will be located along the route, along with music, dancing and fitness exhibitions. At noon there will be a parade down Broadway led by Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone. Those wishing to take part in the parade should assemble in front of the East Branch of the Somerville Public Library located at 115 Broadway.

Adjacent to the Somerstreets festivities will be Foss Fest 2010, featuring live music, arts exhibitions and an open air circus. For a full listing of activities click on the map and event schedule on the right-hand rail of this page.

  • Saturday, May 22, 2010 Time: 10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.
  • Saturday, June 19, 2010 Time:  Noon - 5:00 P.M.
  • Sunday, July 25, 2010 Time: Noon -  4:00 P.M.
  • Sunday, August: TBA
