SOMERMOVIE LINEUP ANNOUNCED FOR SUMMER 2009
City’s Annual Outdoor Movie Series Kicks off Thursday, July 9th in Davis Square; Movies Shown Thursday Evenings through July and August
SOMERVILLE – Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone announced today the film listing for the city’s annual SomerMovie Fest, set to begin on Thursday, July 9th. The 2009 SomerMovie Fest features a series of nine movies, shown at parks throughout the city during July and August, and extending into September. The series kicks off July 9th in Seven Hills Park, Davis Square, with a screening of Bee Movie.
Movies will be shown outdoors on Thursday evenings beginning at dusk (approximately 8pm), and will be shown in Seven Hills Park, Nathan Tufts Park, Lincoln Park, Hodgkins Park, and at City Hall (see schedule below). In the event of inclement weather, movie screenings will be canceled.

July 16 Dreamgirls Seven Hills Park
July 23 Pee Wee’s Big Adventure Seven Hills Park
July 30 Twilight Seven Hills Park
August 6 Rebel Without a Cause Nathan Tufts Park

August 20 Wall-E City Hall Concourse
August 27 Remember the Titans Hodgkins Park
September 3 Viewer’s Choice Seven Hills Park
During each screening, audience members may vote for one of four films to be selected for the Viewer’s Choice showing, which will be held on Thursday, September 3rd. Community members may also cast their vote on the city’s website, www.somervillema.gov, beginning Thursday, July 9th. This year’s Viewer’s Choice selections are: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Goldfinger, Groundhog Day, and Ratatouille.
The 2009 SomerMovie Fest is organized by the City of Somerville’s Communications Department, and sponsored by Comcast. Additional sponsors include Kick*SS Cupcakes, and the Somerville Journal.
