Hodgkins-Curtin Park Construction

The construction of Hodgkins-Curtin Park began in September 2009, and both the Playground and Ballfield will be closed for public use until the renovation is completed in the early summer of 2010. The playground, or "Yellow Park" will be finished first and opened as soon as possible in the spring, however the ballfield will be closed through next summer to ensure that the new turf which will be installed will be well established before the field is opened for recreational use.

Initial City plans to phase the park renovation so that the playground construction would begin prior to the ballfield work have been modified so that both the playground and ballfield work can proceed simultaneously to expedite the construction process and shorten the period of park closure.

City ordinances limit construction hours from 7am to 7pm, Monday-Saturday.  Every effort will be made to keep traffic and parking disturbances to a minimum during the construction period.

During the construction period, Hodgkins-Curtin Park will be closed to the public.  Please see the Parks Map for other facilities available in Somerville.

Thank you for your patience during the construction period.  If you have questions or comments about the park  construction, please call Constituent Services by dialing 311 (617-666-3311 outside of Somerville).
