Somermovie Fest Returns for Summer 2008
Movies Shown Thursday Evenings Through August
City's Annual Outdoor Movie Series Kicks off Thursday, July 10th in Davis Square; Movies Shown Thursday Evenings Through August
SOMERVILLE - Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone today announced the return of the city's annual SomerMovie Fest. The 2008 SomerMovie Fest features a series of nine movies, shown at parks throughout the city during July and August. The series kicks off Thursday evening, July 10th in Seven Hills Park, Davis Square, with a screening of The Lost Boys.
Movies will be shown outdoors on Thursday evenings beginning at dusk (approximately 8pm). Movies will be shown in Seven Hills Park, Prospect Hill Park, Foss Park, and Hodgkins Park (see schedule below). In the event of inclement weather, movie screenings will be canceled.

July 10-The Lost Boys-Seven Hills Park (R)
July 17-Mean Girls-Seven Hills Park (PG-13)
July 24-Bee Movie-Seven Hills Park (PG)
July 31-Citizen Kane-Seven Hills Park (NR)
August 7-Spiderman 3-Conway Park (PG-13)
August 14-Hairspray-Foss Park (PG)
August 21-We Are Marshall-Prospect Hill Park (PG)
August 28-Enchanted-Hodgkins Park (PG)
September 4-Viewer's Choice-Seven Hills Park
During each screening, audience members may vote for one of four films to be selected for the Viewer's Choice showing, on Thursday, September 4th. Additionally, residents may cast their vote on the city's website, www.somervillema.gov, beginning Thursday, July 10th. This year's Viewer's Choice selections are: Finding Nemo, Notorious!, The Bourne Identity, and Finding Neverland.
The 2008 SomerMovie Fest is organized by the City of Somerville's Communications Department, and sponsored by Comcast. In addition, Davis Square's own Kick*SS Cupcakes will sponsor this year's series.
