SNOW EMERGENCY LIFTED AS OF 7 A.M. MONDAY

SOMERVILLE – The City of Somerville has lifted its snow emergency as of 7 a.m., Monday, December 31, 2007. Residents parked in municipal or school lots during the snow emergency have a two-hour window starting at that time in which to move their vehicles.  Cars still parked in city lots at 9 a.m. may be subject to ticketing and towing.  Residents, landlords and business owners are required by city regulations to shovel their sidewalks but may not shovel snow into the street. A list of available city lots and other relevant information may be found on the city’s website, here: SNOW EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

Vehicles towed from Central Street and points WEST may be reclaimed at the Dilboy Stadium lot on Alewife Brook Parkway. Vehicles towed from Central Street and points EAST may be reclaimed at the Pat's Tow lot, at 160 McGrath Highway. Residents seeking to reclaim towed vehicles should report DIRECTLY to the respective locations, with $110 CASH ONLY.

Additionally, to ensure safe passage for emergency vehicles and the efficient removal of snow, residents are urged to adhere to the city ordinance stating that vehicles must be parked at least 20 feet from all intersections.

Residents who have not already done so may also visit the city’s web homepage to view the city’s snow emergency procedures, download the snow procedures brochure or sign up for Connect CTY telephone and email snow alerts and other time sensitive messages from the city. Residents may also sign up for Connect CTY calls and email by calling 311. As in years past, prerecorded information is also available on the city’s Information Hotline, 617-628-SNOW.
