Introducing Mr. Charles Dickens

Albert Cremin as Charles Dickens2012 is the bicentenary of the birth of Charles Dickens, and the year will be marked by international celebrations of his life and work. Although he was an Englishman of the Victorian era, Dickens's work transcends his time, language, and culture. His public readings of his work brought him to Boston in the mid 1800s. Throughout the world, his writings remain a major influence that continue to inspire films, art, and literature. The Library joins in the global commemoration of this much loved literary giant by presenting Albert Cremin in chapters of his one-man show, Introducing Mr. Charles Dickens.

Mr. Cremin, a veteran actor and Somerville native, has had an extensive career as an actor, director, choreographer, writer, night club entertainer, comic, producer, and teacher. He has performed Introducing Mr. Charles Dickens for over 20 years in the Boston area, New York City, and Connecticut. For this special event, he will be offering selections from Captain Boldheart and David Copperfield.

This performance is recommended for people ages 10 and older. The program is free and is funded by the Friends of the Library. Light refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there!
