Additional Information: Perry Park, which is located at the former Perry School site, was first made into a public park in 1974. This renovation reflected changing demographics in Somerville, with the neighborhood asking for an exchange of green space for sport courts. Perry Park is now a quiet escape from the traffic and noise of Washington Street for residents in this dense neighborhood. Funding for this renovation was provided by federal Community Development Block Grants.
