Somerville on the ongoing snow emergency on Sun. 2/16
Due to heavy snowfall, the City reinstated
the Citywide parking ban on the even side of all streets (unless otherwise
posted) on noon Saturday, February 14. The ban includes all streets, including
those where the ban was recently lifted. Cars parked on the even side of the road may be
ticketed and towed. Municipal and school parking lots will remain available for
residents. A snow emergency has remained in effect since the most recent storm
as crews have worked around the clock to haul and melt snow citywide and to
clear snow from roofs of municipal and school buildings.
With additional snow now also predicted for this week, we urge
residents to continue to follow the City’ social media feeds and website – www.somervillema.gov – for updates.
Also, please remember to clear external vents and exhaust pipes to prevent carbon
monoxide poisoning, clear your own roofs of snow, and if possible, assist the
Somerville Fire Department by shoveling out hydrants in your neighborhoods.
If you have other non-emergency questions, call 311
(617-666-3311). For any emergencies, always call 911.
