SOMERVILLE - Ending the City's 2011 SomerStreets celebrations, "Monster Mashed-Up" will be held along Somerville Avenue from Washington Street to Beacon Street on Sunday, October 23rd from noon - 4:00 p.m.  With 2 miles of roadway closed to vehicles, the October SomerStreets is the longest of the season and will include an Oktoberfest from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Union Square end, live entertainment, safe trick-or-treating, a costume parade, chainsaw pumpkin carving demonstrations and much more.

SomerStreets builds on the Shape Up Somerville healthy living initiative. Similar open streets events take place all around the world, providing space normally taken up by automobile traffic for people to be more active. Special attention this year is being paid to providing fresh food at SomerStreets.   If you have any questions, please contact Carlene Campbell at 857-523-9017.
