“Back to the Future” Kicks Off Series to be Shown at Seven Hills
Park, Community Growing Center

SOMERVILLE - Mayor Joe Curtatone announced today the city’s annual
outdoor SomerMovie Fest will begin this Thursday, July 15th at Seven Hills
Park, located behind the Holland Street T station in Davis Square. “Back to
the Future” will be the first feature film. The series will be sponsored once
again by Comcast.

“This is a great summer event the entire community can take pride in,”
Curtatone said. “It is an affair that people of all ages can enjoy-young and old.
It is the next best thing to having a drive-in right here in the City.”

The movies will be shown outdoors on Thursday nights throughout July and
August. All but two of the seven films will be shown at Seven Hills Park. The
Community Growing Center on Vinal Avenue will host the other two. Movies
begin at sundown (approximately 8 p.m.).

The schedule for movies will be as follows:
Thursday, July 15th Back to the Future, Seven Hills Park
Thursday, July 22nd Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Community Growing
    Center
Thursday, July 29th Shrek, Seven Hills Park
Thursday, August 5th Rear Window, Seven Hills Park
Thursday, August 12th Field of Dreams, Seven Hills Park
Thursday, August 19th Wizard of Oz, Community Growing Center
Thursday, August 26th Viewers Choice, Seven Hills Park

Movie attendees will be able to vote for one of five movies that will be shown
on the last Thursday in the series. Residents will be able to cast their vote at
each movie or on the SomerMovie Fest Webpage, beginning July 16th.

Movies will be canceled when it rains or when inclement weather is forecast.

“With the help of Comcast, we have been able to provide the community with
this great event that celebrates the summer months in the city.” Curtatone
commented. “Participation has only grown since the Movie Fest was first
presented, so we hope to show films for many summers to come.”
