Union Square Zoning

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, Ward 2 Alderman Maryann Heuston and Ward 3 Alderman Thomas Taylor recently hosted several Community Meetings on proposed changes to Union Square Zoning.

The Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development will soon be submitting revised proposed zoning amendments to the Board of Aldermen.

Over the past two years, ArtsUnion, the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development, Union Square Main Streets and other partner groups have explored how zoning in Union Square can better support artists and arts organizations; the result is a proposed Arts Overlay District. In addition, the proposed PUD-C (Planned Unit Development) is designed to unleash economic development within under-utilized parcels located in the square, including municipally owned property.

Written comments are being accepted by the Planning Board until June 15 at 12 pm. Comments should be directed to Planning Board c/o Madeleine Masters, Director of Planning.
Comments may be transmitted electronically:click here.

Comments can also be sent to the Land Use Committee until June 25 to the attention of John Long, City Clerk.
