Get Started with the Lead Abatement Program

If you determine that you or your tenants are over income for the Somerville Lead Hazard Abatement Program and will not qualify assistance is still available through MassHousing. They offer a slightly different program for people with higher incomes. Click here for an overview of the program and income limits. If you are interested please contact Just-A-Start, the locally authorized program administrator. The contact person is Allen LaBella and he can be reached at 1-617-494-0444 extension 314. Just-A-Start administers the Get the Lead Out Program for Somerville, Cambridge and Arlington.

Eligibility for the program is based on total household income and household size.

Rental Agreements: As a condition of receiving funds from SPCD, an owner of a property containing rental units must agree to the following: If rent is below the Increase Limits below, property owner is allowed a 3% annual increase over the 3 year loan period.  If above the Increase Limits the rent is fixed at the current rent for the life of the loan.
