Citywide Sewer Manhole Rehabilitation

About the Project

Beginning on or around September 25, 2019, the City’s contractor, National Water Main Cleaning Company (NWM), will rehabilitate existing sewer manholes throughout the city, generally progressing west to east.

The manholes within the City were previously inspected in 2017, revealing manhole deterioration and subsequent infiltration of groundwater into the sewer system. NWM will rehabilitate manholes using a combination of methods, including root removal, cement lining and sealing of manholes, building manhole benches and inverts, and replacing frames and covers.

Schedule of Work

While all timelines are subject to change, work is anticipated to be completed in Spring 2020. Daily work hours are approximately 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Anticipated Impacts

Streets and sidewalks are expected to remain open for the duration of the project. Lane closures, lane shifts, and parking restrictions may be implemented as needed.

Excavation may produce moderate noise during work hours (typically between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.) throughout the project area. Crews need to excavate to access frames and grates in order to rehabilitate manholes.
