It is with extreme sadness that we announce the death of our brother, Officer Louis Remigio. On Monday night, October 9, Officer Remigio succumbed to injuries sustained while involved in a motor vehicle accident on I-95 in North Hampton, New Hampshire, on Sunday, October 8.

Mayor Joseph Curtatone announced today the launch of Vision Zero Somerville, reaffirming the City’s commitment to multi-modal road safety. The initiative will take a multi-department, data-driven approach to improving safety for all road users, whether on bicycles or on foot, in vehicles, or aboard public transit.

Curtatone and Ward 5 Alderman Mark Niedergang invite all interested persons to a community meeting on Cedar Street Roadway Improvements including traffic calming measures, bumpouts, a new crosswalk, and road resurfacing, are planned for Cedar St. between Highland and Broadway this fall. To update the community on the upcoming work, the City Engineering team will present the plan and schedule, and Alderman Niedergang and the team will discuss construction impacts and mitigation and answer your questions.
