Somerville Board of Health Meeting to Discuss Indoor Mask Mandate

Traffic Board Public Hearing on Central Hill Parking Changes, February 24

 The City of Somerville Traffic Board will hold a virtual public hearing on Thursday, February 24, 2022, regarding the one-year parking-regulation changes for City and school staff on Central Hill, near City Hall, Somerville High School, and the Central Library. These changes were approved at the Somerville Traffic Commission meeting on November 18, 2021 (Agenda Items 5a-d and 6).

Virtual Workshop Series: Somerville Bicycle Network Planning

 Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and the City of Somerville Mobility Division invite you to participate in a virtual workshop to help inform Somerville’s citywide bicycle network plan.  The City is developing its first bicycle network plan to establish a comprehensive network of streets where people of all abilities will feel comfortable and safe riding their bikes throughout Somerville. At these small-group workshops, attendees will take part in an interactive mapping exercise to draw potential routes and brainstorm ways to build a connective network across the entire city.

Somerville Awards $2.7 Million in Community Preservation Act Funds

Somerville Launches Preschool and Child Care Financial Assistance Initiative

 The City of Somerville is now accepting applications for full-day preschool and child care financial assistance through its new Child Care Access and Affordability Program. To qualify, children must be between 15 months and 4 years old by August 31, 2022, and families must meet income eligibility requirements outlined at somervillema.gov/somerpromise. Tuition assistance will be provided at child care programs that have partnered with the City of Somerville. Partners for the 2022-23 school year will be finalized in March.

Memorialization Committee Seeks One Resident Member

 The City of Somerville’s Memorialization Committee; which names public assets like buildings, streets, and parks; is accepting applications to fill one resident position. The committee meets on an as-needed basis. Appointees will serve a two-year term and must be confirmed by the City Council.
