Members Appointed to the Mayor’s Appointments Advisory Committee

Mayor Curtatone and President of the Board of Aldermen Katjana Ballantyne have announced their appointments to the Mayor’s Appointments Advisory Committee (AAC): Jennifer Blundell, Victor DoCouto, and William Durkin. The AAC will be tasked with making nonpartisan and informed recommendations for appointments to critical City boards and commissions. Members will review and select applicants based on relevant qualifications and skills and their ability and commitment to represent and serve the interests of the entire community.

Submit Comments on the Davis Square Neighborhood Plan by June 1

Over the past five years residents and business owners have work with planners from the Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development to envision the future of Davis Square. Now, there’s another opportunity to weigh in. The Davis Square Neighborhood Plan was recently released and is ready for review. If you are interested in submitting comments on the Davis Square Neighborhood Plan, please send them to by Friday, June 1.

Henry Hansen Park Redesign Community Meeting #2, May 1

Public Hearing to Discuss Tree Removal for Prospect Hill Park Project, May 2

The City of Somerville Tree Warden invites all interested residents and community members to a public hearing on Wednesday, May 2, to discuss upcoming tree removal as part of the rehabilitation of Prospect Hill Park. The hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Academy Room at the Public Safety Building, 220 Washington St. Any objections to their removal must be submitted in writing prior to or during the hearing.

Join the Somerville Bicycle Advisory Committee (SBAC) on Sunday, April 29, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Aeronaut Brewery (14 Tyler St.) for a celebration to kick off Bay State Bike Week. The event will feature live music and a special presentation (at 2 p.m.) and book signing by the nationally renowned urban planner, safe streets advocate, and author of “Walkable Cities” Jeff Speck. Additionally, more than 20 bike advocacy organizations, businesses, and agencies will be in attendance, including representatives from MassDOT, MassBike, Boston Cyclists Union, and more.
