FabVille Reopens to Somerville Residents
Wednesday, November 17, 2021Somerville’s free community digital fabrication lab, FabVille, is now open for in-person use at Somerville High School (SHS). FabVille provides all Somerville residents with free workspace and access to 3D printers, laser cutters, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines to inspire innovative design and prototyping. The lab is open Monday through Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. for SHS students and faculty and from 5 to 8 p.m. for community members. Before visiting, all participants must sign up for a free membership at FabVille.org.

Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery on Broadway at North Street ― 10 a.m. The first event will take place Thursday, November 11, at Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery on Broadway at North Street. Speaking remarks will begin at 10 a.m. featuring City Council President Matthew McLaughlin and Somerville Director of Veterans’ Services Ted Louis-Jacques. A wreath-laying ceremony will follow. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
Somerville Domestic Violence Vigil Moved to West Branch Library, 10/26

Curtatone, the Somerville Commission for Women, and RESPOND Inc. invite residents to join them for the annual Domestic Violence Vigil on Tuesday, October 26, to remember and honor those who lost their lives to domestic violence in 2021. Due to rain, the vigil will now take place in the atrium at the West Branch Library, 40 College Avenue, from 6 to 7 p.m. Note that masks are required indoors.

Somerville Seeks Part-Time Multilingual Youth and Adult Community Outreach Workers
Wednesday, October 20, 2021The City of Somerville is looking for part-time multilingual community outreach workers to conduct surveys and collect community input on COVID-19 recovery and other public health–related initiatives. The City seeks six adults and six youth (age 16 to 18) to engage with the community through a variety of outreach methods including but not limited to event tabling, community walkabouts, office hours, drop-ins at partner organizations and businesses, focus groups, flyering, phone calls, and door-knocking (door-knocking by adults only for select initiatives).

Voters can download an application at somervillema.gov/VoteByMail or pick one up at the Elections Department in City Hall, 93 Highland Avenue. You can fill out and submit your application on the spot. Please remember that face coverings are required in all indoor public spaces.

Brickbottom Vision Planning Virtual Open House, 10/27

Public Comment Sought on FY22 Community Preservation Act Applications

This year, more than $1M is available to support projects in these categories. Feedback from residents will help inform the CPC’s award recommendations.
