Summit St. from College Ave. to Billingham St.: Parking Restrictions, Pedestrian & Vehicle Traffic Impacts in Jan. & Feb for Gas Main Work

To our customers and neighbors on Summit Street (College Ave to Billingham Street), It is necessary that we repair and replace the natural gas main on Summit Street. Weather permitting, Eversource Gas will begin on Tuesday January 16th, 2018, the work hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please anticipate that the specific areas to be worked will be posted with no parking signs as needed, Somerville Police Officers’ will be on site to assist with the pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Proposed work is projected take between 3-4 weeks. 

We understand the inconvenience this may cause, and will make necessary efforts to minimize any interruptions and crews will be prepared to remove snow accumulation from the street to ensure adequate parking for residents and to maintain a safe work zone. There may also be other upgrades required to ensure the safe and most efficient operation of the natural gas distribution system. 

Upon completion of the construction process, paved or cemented areas, which were disturbed, will be permanently repaired with material similar to what was removed.
