Statement of Duties
Performs a variety of clerical duties for the ISD Building and Health Divisions, according to departmental procedures. Handles financial transactions as well as providing email, front desk and telephone customer service on a regular basis. Assists customers in all matters relating to the department, including public record requests, complaints, permitting and the ticket processing systems. Files and inputs data entry into software as required. Performs a variety of other clerical duties as assigned by the ISD Director and/or Deputy Director, and performs other related work as required.
Must have experience processing financial transactions.
Must possess excellent computer skills, including email (Outlook) and Microsoft Excel and Word, and willingness to be trained in MUNIS, Citizenserve or related softwares.
Superior customer service skills and the ability to work pleasantly and efficiently with the general public (in-person, phone, and email).
Basic working knowledge of the functions of the department.
Ability to refer customer inquiries to appropriate personnel for response.
Attention to detail and accuracy with figures essential.
Performs well under stress and meets deadlines on time.
The work environment involves everyday discomforts typical of offices, with occasional exposure to outside elements. Noise or physical surroundings may be distracting, but conditions are generally not unpleasant.

Little or no physical demands are required to perform the work. Work effort principally involves sitting to perform work tasks, with intermittent periods of stooping, walking, and standing. Duties are largely mental rather than physical, but the job may occasionally require minimal motor skills for activities such as moving objects, operating a telephone system, computer and/or most other office equipment, typing and/or word processing, filing, and sorting.
Visual demands include constantly reading documents for general understanding and for analytical purposes.
