Dilboy Stadium Laborer
The Dilboy Stadium Laborer is responsible for the oversight of recreational activities at the Dilboy Stadium facility. This includes activities for children, adults, seniors, and other special citizens of Somerville. Performs all related duties. Works with various populations of the Somerville community in connecting them to the appropriate resources. Works independently and is responsible for overseeing activities. Includes setting up and cleaning up at facilities after use for special events, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Works collaboratively with Parks & Recreation team in providing quality programing.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or any equivalent of education.Training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skill
Knowledge: Must have knowledge of various recreational modalities.
Abilities: Ability to meet and deal with the public effectively and appropriately; ability to handle problems effectively; ability to communicate clearly orally; ability to maintain confidential information; ability to maintain, manage, and organize records; ability to deal appropriately with employees, officials and members of the general public.
Skill: Excellent organizational skills.
Work Environment
The work environment involves everyday discomforts typical of offices, with frequent exposure to elements. Noise or physical surroundings may be distracting, but conditions are generally not unpleasant. Work requires some agility and physical strength, such as moving in or about ice rink, standing or walking for some of the work period. Occasionally, work may require lifting heavy objects and carrying them. There may be need to stretch and reach to retrieve materials. The work may require extended physical effort over a significant portion of the work day.

Physical Skills: Minimal physical demands are required to perform the work. Work effort principally involves standing to perform work tasks, with intermittent periods of stooping, walking, and sitting. Work requires some agility such as moving in or about athletic facilities, or over rough terrain. There may also be some occasional lifting of objects such as recreational equipment, office equipment or photocopy paper (up to 30lbs.).
Motor Skills: Duties are both mental and physical; the job may occasionally require motor skills for activities such as moving objects, interacting in recreational activities, operating a telephone.
Visual Skills: Visual demands require constantly reading documents for general understanding and analytical purposes.
