Somerville Public Library Board of Trustees Seeks New Member

The Somerville Public Library Board of Trustees seeks one new member, and all Somerville residents are invited to apply. Boards and commissions offer an opportunity for residents with a range of experience, skills, expertise, and perspectives to share their talents and insights with their community.

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the Somerville Public Library. The Board works with the Library Director to oversee the library’s operating and administrative policies. The Trustees also support the libraries through long-range strategic planning, advocacy, public relations, and outreach efforts.

The Board typically meets the second Wednesday of each month from 6 to 8 p.m. Trustees are appointed by the Mayor and serve three-year terms in a volunteer capacity. All Trustees must comply with and sign the City of Somerville’s Code of Conduct for Board, Commission, and Committee Members.

Applications are due Friday, August 25. Interested candidates should submit a statement of interest to Cathy Piantigini, Director of Libraries, at cpiantigini@somervillema.gov or by mail to 79 Highland Ave., Somerville, MA 02143. Please email Cathy or call her at 617-623-5000 ext. 2910 with questions.
