Somerville Zoning Board of Appeals Seeks Two Members

Open Positions: One full and one alternate

Term: Five years for full members, two years for alternate members

The City of Somerville seeks two new members for the Zoning Board of Appeals, and all Somerville residents are invited to apply. A background in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, urban planning, and/or land use law is beneficial but not required.

The Zoning Board of Appeals reviews all variances and appeals under the Somerville Zoning Ordinance. The Board has full members and alternate members. Alternate members participate in all discussion on items before the Board and vote in the place of full members when full members are absent from a meeting.

The Board typically meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. Full members earn a monthly stipend of $495.33, and alternate members earn a monthly stipend of $247.67. Applications will be reviewed by the Mayor’s Appointments Advisory Committee. New members must be approved by the City Council.
