About the Snow Shoveling Program

The Teen Snow Shoveling Match Program connects teens with seniors and homeowners with disabilities in Somerville. Teens and homeowners are paired for the winter season. After each snowstorm homeowners contact their assigned teen to request one or more of the shoveling services listed below.

Earn Money Shoveling (Teens)

Want to make some extra cash this winter?

Get paid for each house shoveled after a snowstorm! 

  • Program is available for participants 14 to 19 years of age 
  • All participants must complete and submit a 2024 Application Form 
  • Participants 18 or older must complete and submit an 2024 Application Form and a CORI form 
  • Shovelers must participate in a brief in-person informational session with city’s Youth Services Program Coordinator prior to being matched. 
  • Shovelers must bring their own shovels. 
  • Shovelers will be assigned one or more homes and homeowner will contact their assigned Shovelers after each significant snow fall 
  • Shovelers may be matched with multiple homeowners based on capacity 
  • Shovelers may NOT use snowblowers

*In case of extremely heavy snowfalls, prices may change, or you may not be able to do all your jobs. 

 * Driveway spots and street spots will be shoveled but snow removal from an actual vehicle is the owner's responsibility

Need a little help keeping your property shoveled?

Apply for assistance from the Somerville Teen Snow Shoveling Match Program! 

Signing up is easy! To take part in the Snow Shoveling Referral Program, you must submit an Application Form and a CORI form to the Council on Aging's Holland Street Center at 167 Holland St. You must appear at the Holland Street Center in person with a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license, state ID, or passport). You may print and complete the forms ahead of time and bring them with you if you wish, or the forms can be completed in person.
