Join the Somerville Arts Council and the Somerville Flea for a perfect summer day while supporting local businesses and artists in Ball Square. The annual Joe’s Jazz & Blue’s Festival will kick off the day from noon to 6 p.m., followed by the Somerville Arts Council’s Night Market from 5 to 10 p.m.
Joe’s Jazz and Blues Festival is a free, all-day, outdoor event in beautiful Powderhouse Park (a.k.a Nathan Tufts Park). The Somerville High School Jazz Band will kick off the concert at noon, getting the crowd going with sounds ranging from American Jazz to Delta Blues. The day’s lineup also includes: Shokazoba, Meridian 71, Joe Bargar & The Soul Providers, BJ Magoon & Driving Sideways and Ken Field Nonstandards.
After the festival, grab a bite to eat at one of the many delicious restaurants in Ball Square. From 5 to 10 p.m. enjoy a nighttime artisan and vintage market accompanied by live music by local artists, a beer garden sponsored by The Pub, and more activities under the stars. Enjoy a tasting at Ball Square Fine Wines, meet kittens up for adoption at Stinky's, and learn more about the offerings at Amal Niccoli Salon and other local businesses.
The live music line-up for the Night Market includes Yoni Gordon, David Mirabella and Friends, and the Andrea Gillis Band. Listen to the tunes while you peruse vintage and artisan wares from over 30 vendors.
The Night Market is produced in partnership with the Somerville Flea. This is the second installment of a three-part series of Night Market this summer. The third Market in the series will take place in Winter Hill on Saturday, July 20.

The Ball Square Bridge Hopper, a free shuttle to help passengers navigate the Broadway bridge closure, will be running from 1 to 10 p.m. throughout the events on June 15. The shuttle will run on a continuous loop between Powderhouse Park, Willow Ave. at Broadway, the CVS in Magoun Square, and Trum Field. Search "Bridge Hopper" in your smartphone's app store to download the app, which will show you where the shuttle is on its route. Please note that the app will display the typical weekday stops and not this revised route. Use the Bridge Hopper to get through the road detours and access local businesses in Ball Square and Magoun Square.
