Success of Energy Improvements at City Facilities

WHAT:           The City of Somerville will launch the Act! Earth sustainability program as part of a $7.8-million energy conservation and building modernization project with Honeywell — work that is expected to cut more than $450,000 in annual energy and operating costs for the city. Act! Earth will include a variety of educational workshops and informational materials for city employees, students and school faculty to help improve energy awareness and promote a cleaner, healthier environment.

Mayor Joseph Curtatone, Superintendent of Schools Tony Pierantozzi and other community leaders will discuss the city’s recent energy-focused upgrades with Honeywell, and how Act! Earth will help the city improve its impact on the environment and bottom line during a community fair at Somerville High School. Attendees can learn about the city’s commitment to sustainability, and get information on a number of related topics from Honeywell and other local organizations.

The event is free to the public, and will include refreshments and a raffle for prizes.
