Statement of Duties:
- Under the supervision of the Accounts Payable Supervisor, clerical or other employees of higher grade, the Senior Clerk in the auditing department performs moderately complex clerical duties of more than ordinary difficulty and individual responsibility involving general knowledge of standard office procedures, regulations and practices.
- Preparation of various documents.
- Data entry on various complex computer systems, examines documents for correctness, oversees assigned organization accounts and monitors appropriation balances
- Troubleshoots vendor inquiries and department requests regarding financial status of their accounts.
- Audit and process for payment all accounts payable invoices against authorized purchase orders and contracts.
- Reviews and maintains contracts, files and reports
- Researches records for billing and payment issues
- Answers phones, prepares and mails out going correspondence, forms and reports.
- Organizes incoming and out-going mail.
- Answers inquiries and provides routine information to departments.
- Compiles any number of different statistics.
- Fills out forms; assists as needed other departmental staff; operates standard office machines and equipment.
- Performs related tasks as required and other duties as assigned.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications:
- One year of accounts payable and/or accounting experience and the ability to apply these basic principles for the purpose of maintaining financial records and amounts.
- Attention to detail and accuracy with figures is essential.
- Must have knowledge of standard office practices.
- Proficiency with computer and calculator applications is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is essential.
- High School graduate or GED.
- Ability to pleasantly and efficiently communicate with the public and internal stakeholders in person and on the telephone.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team situation.
Work Environment
The work environment involves everyday discomforts typical of offices, with occasional exposure to outside elements. Noise or physical surroundings may be distracting, but conditions are generally not unpleasant.

Physical Skills
Few physical demands are required to perform the work. Work effort principally involves sitting to perform work tasks, with intermittent periods of stooping, walking, and standing. May also be some occasional lifting of objects such as office equipment and computer paper (up to 30lbs.)
Motor Skills
Duties are largely mental rather than physical, but the job may occasionally require minimal motor skills for activities such as moving objects, operating a telephone, personal computer and/or most other office equipment including word processing, filing and sorting of papers.
Visual Skills
Visual demands require constantly reading documents for general understanding and analytical purposes.
