SHMEO Catch Basin Operator

Duties:

Operates motor driven equipment including trucks with a rated capacity of over 9 tons, payloaders, catch basin cleaning machines and backhoes; operates other motor equipment of a lesser level of difficulty. Performs minor preventive maintenance on equipment. Performs semi-skilled manual work in the construction, operation, and maintenance of sewer systems to include: work on sewers, mains, drains, connections and catch basins. Digs, braces and backfills excavations. May be required to climb into catch basins and sewer lines to remove and dispose of solid substances. May work with private contractors to help them avoid hitting sewer mains or connections during construction or excavation. Uses standard hand tools; i.e. Shovels, picks, axes, saws, heavy wrenches, small power tools, and industrial strength saws. Other manual labor tasks as assigned.
