Temporary File Clerk

Duties:

Open, sort, alphabetize and file records for the Election Department, according to departmental procedures.  Occasional phone and in-person customer service duties as needed, to direct customers to the appropriate staff person for inquiries and assistance.  Performs other related work as required. 

Requirements:
  • High school graduate or G.E.D.
  • Ability to accurately sort and alphabetize documents mandatory.  Experience filing documents and maintaining records in an office environment preferred.
  • Ability to refer customer inquiries to appropriate City personnel for response.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of the functions of the Elections Department, including management of census records and voter counts.
  • Physical requirements include: Light work, including the ability to lift up to 15 lbs; to bend, stoop, crouch, reach as needed to file documents in standard office cabinets.  Close visual acuity required.
  • Fluency in English required; language skills in Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole preferred.
