LOCATION

Join the Somerville Pedestrian and Transit Advisory Committee (PTAC) for a walk on West Broadway between Clarendon Ave and Alewife Brook Parkway (Route 16). We'll meet a little further east at Lou Ann David Park (the side closest to Broadway).

West Broadway will be repaved and the sidewalks reconstructed as part of the City's Pavement and Sidewalk Management Program. The City will take the opportunity to develop a new design that makes West Broadway safer and more comfortable for people walking, rolling, taking transit, biking, and driving. West Broadway is one of the most used main streets in Somerville, serving as a gateway to the city from Arlington and North Cambridge. It carries the 87, 88, and 89 bus routes, and is home to many residents and local businesses. This project does not include the intersection of Alewife Brook Parkway and Broadway, which is managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). The City is working with DCR on intersection safety improvements under a separate project.

PTAC will be walking along West Broadway to generate community feedback that will inform the City's designs. Staff members from the Mobility Division will be at the walk to receive this feedback and answer questions. Learn more about the project at somervillema.gov/westbroadway.

Rain Date: Wednesday, April 24, 6:00 pm
