Traffic and Parking is responsible for ensuring the orderly and controlled flow of traffic, and enforcing the City’s parking regulations through engineering analysis, and by maintaining all traffic signals, roadway signs and parking meters. The department advises and coordinates with the Planning Department, DPW, OHCD, Police, and Fire on matters that are related to traffic and parking. In addition, the department offers recommendations to the City’s Traffic Commission in developing rules and regulations. Traffic and Parking issues residential, business, commercial, handicap, and special visitor parking permits.
