Mission Statement: The Recreation and Youth Commission operate year-round programs throughout the City's public facilities, playgrounds, schoolyards, and various other locations to promote positive and healthy activities. Recreation and Youth were merged in 2003 specifically designed to create curriculum and activities that encourages community awareness in the City's young people. The Commission serves as a Youth Advocate, providing access to related services, employers, and organizations within the City. The Youth and Recreation Commission exists to enrich the lives of youth by identifying, recruiting, improving, increasing, and providing youth services and programs for youth in the City of Somerville.
