ANNUAL “JOE’S JAZZ AND BLUES FEST” RETURNS FOR FALL 2012

Mayor Curtatone, Arts Council to Kick Off Jazz Fest on Saturday, October 27th from Noon-6pm in Powderhouse Park; Performances Continue through November 3rd in Locations Citywide

SOMERVILLE - The fourth annual Joe's Jazz and Blues Fest is
returning for Fall 2012, beginning with a day-long concert at Powderhouse Park
on Saturday, October 27th from noon-6pm.  The festival will then make its way through
local hotspots citywide through November 3rd, including performances
at Cantina la Mexicana, Arts at the Armory Café, Sally O'Brien's, and Johnny
D's Uptown.  A full schedule and venue
list can be found online at www.somervilleartscouncil.org.

"Somerville's arts, music, and cultural festivals continue
to grow and expand, and the Jazz and Blues Fest is evidence of how popular our
programs have become for the entire region," said Mayor Curtatone.  "As our annual programs draw to a close for
the colder weather, the Jazz and Blues Festival is a great way to cap off
another season of fun and innovative celebrations that have drawn tens of
thousands of visitors to our City.  There
are some tremendously talented artists in this year's lineup, and I'm looking
forward to their great performances."

"The Mayor and the
Council saw a need to both support and promote the City's rich jazz and blues
heritage.  And while we hold events all
around the City, we always knew we should do something at Powderhouse Park
which is a City jewel.  So it's a perfect
fit," said Gregory Jenkins, Director, Arts Council.

Saturday's concert includes performances by the Somerville
High School Jazz Ensemble, Sonic Explorers, The Jellyrollers, Agachiko, The Tim
Gartland Group, and Jerry Lyons Trio.
Additional performances throughout the week include the Sarah Levecque
Band, Victor & Penny, the Stan Martin Band, and The Love Dogs.
