Be a Somerville Climate Ambassador: Applications Now Open
Applications due December 1; $400 stipend for participants
Take the lead on local climate action while getting to know your neighbors. Somerville’s Sustainability and Environment Division is launching its 2027 Climate Ambassadors group, and all residents ages 16 and up are invited to apply to be a member. Applications are open until end of day, Tuesday, December 1.
Now in its eighth year, the Somerville Climate Ambassadors program is part of the City’s Climate Forward plan. The program seeks to empower residents by providing an opportunity to learn and directly engage in climate action. Participants will hear from local advocates and complete a project with the goal to build awareness and engage community members on climate change solutions. No prior knowledge is required.
2027 Climate Ambassadors Program
The 2027 program runs from Saturday, January 23, to Thursday, May 27, and will consist of ten meetings held in-person and virtually to explore local government's role in climate action, environmental justice, community organizing, and more. There is also a group project component to put these topics into action. Participants will present their final projects and gather with fellow ambassadors, ambassador alums, and community members for a final celebration. All program participants will receive a $400 stipend.
Apply by end of day Tuesday, December 1, online at somervillema.gov/climate-ambassadors or contact 311 (617-666-3311) for assistance.
