Dilboy Stadium Track and Field Ribbon Cutting, November 19

Somerville Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and Ward 7 Councilor and Mayor-elect Katjana Ballantyne invite you to a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the newly renovated Dilboy Stadium Track and Field on Friday, November 19, at 10:30 a.m.  

Dilboy Stadium is owned by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation and operated by the City of Somerville Parks and Recreation Department. The older track and field were well beyond their lifespan. Renovations began in June to install a state-of-the-art woven synthetic turf field with an organic infill and to resurface the running track. Additional updates include a retaining wall constructed of large granite blocks salvaged from the old Charlestown Bridge, new electric and communication boxes, and new drains around the field perimeter with subsurface filters to prevent stormwaterrunoff sediments from entering Alewife Brook. 

The Dilboy Stadium playing fields and track have served the athletic, recreational, and cultural needs of the community for many years, and with this renovation, it will continue to do so for years to come. For more information about this project, visit somervillema.gov/dilboystadiumrenovation.
