Fifth Annual Veterans Health and Wellness Day Sept. 12

Join us for an afternoon of movement, wellness, and connection. The City of Somerville’s Veterans’ Services department invites local veterans, first responders, their families, and community members to the fifth annual Veterans Health and Wellness Day on Saturday, September 12, at Lincoln Park (290 Washington St.) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

“When Americans answer the call to serve our country, we have a social contract that says we take care of our veterans. This means continuing to prioritize health and wellbeing long after their service ends,” said Mayor Jake Wilson. “This event meets veterans where they are, recognizes the contributions of our first responders, and provides access to critical resources all while offering an array of activities for the whole family and an opportunity to connect with neighbors. Thank you to our City staff and community partners for organizing this important event for Somerville.” 

Attendees can enjoy a range of activities, including: 

• Wellness education and resource tables 
• Fitness classes such as yoga, Zumba, and strengthening 
• Chair massages 
• Children’s activities including a bounce house and face painting 
• Free healthy snacks 

“We owe our veterans not only a debt of gratitude for their service but also the continued support and services that help ensure they have all the tools they need post-service to lead healthy and successful lives,” said Councilor Matt McLaughlin. “The annual health and wellness fair is a great way for veterans, first responders, and their families to connect, have fun, learn about services, and maybe finally try Zumba. It's just one small way we can thank these selfless individuals for the sacrifices they make and the dangers they face.”
