The Somerville Fair Housing Commission (FHC) is actively seeking a new member, and we invite all Somerville residents to consider applying.

What is the Somerville Fair Housing Commission?

The Fair Housing Commission works to ensure that all current and prospective Somerville residents have equal access to housing, free from discrimination and prejudice. The FHC plans annual educational events, reviews complaints submitted, does tabling at community events, and meets with City of Somerville legislative staff on fair housing issues.

Who can join?

Any Somerville community member who is over the age of 18 can apply.

What is the time commitment?

The commission typically meets on the fourth Thursday of each month for one hour. Members commit to serving three-year terms.

How do I apply?

To apply, send a message sharing why you are interested in joining the Fair Housing Commission to Shannon Lawler, staff liaison to the Fair Housing Commission, by Friday, January 30, 2026.
