New Shade Structure Funded by Participatory Budgeting Process to Open With Ribbon Cutting 10/30 at Capuano Playground

Project Created and Funded by Community in Participatory Budgeting Process

Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and Ward 1 Councilor Matthew McLaughlin invite community members to join the City of Somerville for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the new shade structure at Capuano Playground. The event will take place on Thursday, October 30, at 3 p.m., at Capuano Playground (150 Glen St).

The Capuano Playground shade structure was funded by Somerville residents through the City’s Participatory Budgeting program, which empowers community members to propose and vote on projects that directly benefit their neighborhoods.

This new structure provides a comfortable, sun-safe space for park visitors and supports Somerville’s broader efforts to make public spaces more accessible and welcoming for all.
