Snowfall Expected Sunday, January 18: Plan Ahead for Parking Impacts

The City of Somerville is expecting plowable snowfall on Sunday, January 18, tapering off by early Monday morning. Residents can help DPW crews work efficiently and keep emergency routes clear by following the guidelines below.

Parking Guidelines

No snow emergency is currently planned, but residents are asked to avoid parking within 20 feet of any corner or intersection. This space is needed so snow plows and emergency vehicles can clear corners and make turns safely. This is especially important on narrower streets. Vehicles parked within 20 feet of an intersection may be ticketed and/or towed.

Sidewalk clearing reminder for property owners

To ensure safe passage for everyone, property owners must clear snow and ice from sidewalks abutting their property within six daylight hours after snowfall ends. Snow must be cleared down to the pavement, and paths must be at least 3 feet wide.
