Somerville Commission for Women Seeks Four Members

Open Positions: Four
Term: Three years

The Somerville Commission for Women (SCW) seeks four new members, and all women who live in Somerville are invited to apply. Boards and commissions offer an opportunity for residents with a range of experience, skills, expertise, and perspectives to share their talents and insights with their community.

The Commission for Women works to ensure the equal status of women in Somerville, with a special focus on anti-violence, financial literacy, empowerment, coalition building, and monitoring and supporting legislation. Commissioners will work on advocacy projects, coordinate outreach and engagement, and host events. The SCW typically meets monthly on Tuesday evenings. New members must be approved by the City Council. These are volunteer positions.

Applications are due Friday, June 17. To apply, please send a resume and a statement of interest to Lauren Spengler at lspengler@somervillema.gov or Somerville City Hall, 93 Highland Ave., Somerville, MA 02143. Please email Lauren or call her at (617) 625-6600 ext. 2057 with questions.
