Somerville Gets Spooky at Monster Mash on October 18

From fluff to frights, Somerville is celebrating its hometown heroes. On Sunday, October 18 (rain date October 25), the Arts & Culture Division is holding its annual Monster Mash celebration in honor of the Halloween classic co-written by Somerville native Bobby “Boris” Pickett. The afternoon-long event will include a costume parade, pumpkin carving, face painting and local food vendors.

“Monster Mash is our chance to celebrate Halloween in true Somerville style,” said Mayor Wilson. “Whether you’re looking to show off your costume, carve a pumpkin, or enjoy some local music, there’s something for everyone. Come join us for an afternoon of Halloween fun with friends and neighbors.”

• Time: 1-5 p.m.
• Location: Somerville Ave between Church St and Union Sq

Live performances on two stages will include the BosWitches, Proyecto Tempo, Los Mambiseros, and a lineup curated by Mass Ave Music. 

“Where else can you run into your neighbors in costume, a brass band, and giant puppets all in one afternoon?” said City-Councilor-at-Large Kristin Strezo. “Monster Mash brings out so much of what makes Somerville fun. I’m grateful to the artists, local businesses, and organizers who make it a celebration everyone can enjoy.”
