Somerville Human Rights Commission Seeks Four Members

Open Positions: Four
Term: Three years

The City of Somerville seeks four new members for the Human Rights Commission (HRC), and all Somerville residents are invited to apply. Boards and commissions offer an opportunity for residents with a range of experience, skills, expertise, and perspectives to share their talents and insights with their community.

The Human Rights Commission seeks to protect and promote constitutional and civil rights and raise awareness of human rights issues, discrimination, and bias. Commissioners will work on advocacy projects, coordinate outreach and engagement, and host events. The HRC typically meets on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. New members must be approved by the City Council. These are volunteer positions.

Applications are due Friday, June 17. To apply, please send a statement of interest to Lauren Spengler at lspengler@somervillema.gov or Somerville City Hall, 93 Highland Ave., Somerville, MA 02143. Please email Lauren or call her at (617) 625-6600 ext. 2057 with questions.
