More About the Design Process
This past spring, neighbors, community group representatives, small business owners, and workers, shared their input on a conceptual design that included raised crosswalks, new crosswalks, protected bike lanes, and improved bus stops.
The City also presented three options for the Magoun Square Intersection (Broadway at Medford Street) focused on improving safety, providing more comfortable options for all people traveling through the intersection, and reducing congestion. At the upcoming open house the City will share the preferred option for the intersection.
In addition to the community feedback, the design is informed by Somerville’s commitment to Vision Zero (a commitment to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injury) and the City’s Bicycle Network Plan (a roadmap for expanding bicycle safety and features across the city).
