Statement from Somerville Police Department on Farragut Ave. Shooting

The following is a statement on behalf of the Somerville Police Department: At approximately 5 p.m. this evening, the Somerville Police Department was dispatched to 14 Farragut Avenue after reports of a shooting. A 16-year-old male was found to have serious injuries and was transported to Mt. Auburn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim was a resident of Malden. The incident remains under investigation; however, there is not, and never was, a threat to the community at large.
