SOMERVILLE -Eight new members are joining the Union Square Civic Advisory Committee (CAC), which is expanding and broadening the committee's experience, diversity, and representation of the neighborhood, as the community planning process for the square continues this spring.

Davis Sq. Detour for Road Race Sun. 3/15
On Sunday, Mar. 15, beginning at 9 a.m., City officials will detour vehicles in and around the Davis Sq. area to accommodate the running of the Race of Ireland road race, benefiting Somerville youth and Somerville athletics. Major roadways including Holland Street, Powerhouse Blvd, Broadway (in the Ball Square corridor) Cedar St. and Highland Ave. between Cedar St. and Davis Sq. will be closed temporarily as runners pass, beginning at 11 a.m. and lasting until approximately 1 p.m.
Volunteers Needed: Patriot’s Day Colonial Fair
Help the City re-live Paul Revere's historic ride from Boston through Somerville and onto Lexington and Concord. Adults and high school students are needed to help plan and execute the City's annual Patriots Day event, a Colonial Fair at Foss Park on Monday, April 20.

Rain Barrels Available for Purchase Through 4/4
Through a partnership with the Great American Rain Barrel Company in Hyde Park, MA, the City of Somerville is offering rain barrels to Somerville residents at a discount to help conserve water and save money. Barrels can be purchased through April 4, 2015 by visiting www.greatamericanrainbarrel.com/c-124-somerville.aspx. Somerville residents may purchase the barrels at a discounted cost of $79 (compared to $119 regular retail price).
