 Our System At-a-Glance

Like many cities in the northeast, Somerville’s stormwater and sewer infrastructure was built primarily in the late 19th and early-to-mid-20th century. Somerville’s combination of ongoing development and aging infrastructure, exacerbated by the impacts of climate change, requires significant investment toward modernizing and upgrading our stormwater drainage and sewage systems. 

About the Program

In 2019, the Office of Sustainability and Environment (OSE) launched the Climate Ambassador Program. The program was identified in Climate Forward, our climate action plan. Our goal is to educate residents about climate change and increase the community’s capacity to engage in climate action. 

Following participation in the program, Ambassadors will:  

Members and Trustees

The Job Creation and Retention Trust Board of Trustees is composed of nine members.

JCRT Board of Trustees responsibilities will involve managing the JCRT fund, working with OSPCD staff to implement workforce development strategies outlined in the Talent Equity Playbook, target industry sectors and resident demographics of interest for job training programs, solicit project proposals, and funding workforce development training programs in accordance with the ordinance.
