Somerville Veterans Services organizes the City's Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony annually as a tribute to those who lost their lives defending the United States. The parade draws more than 80 groups and is followed by the City of Somerville Memorial Day Ceremony.  

2023 Schedule

Sunday, May 28, 2023 
Rain date: Monday, May 29, 2023 

Noon: Step Off at Davis Square (Somerville)

Immediately Following the Parade: Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony at Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery on Broadway between Alewife Brook Parkway and North Street after the conclusion of the parade. 
 

Parade Route

The Parade will begin at the Davis Square Rotary (9/11 Memorial Granite Circle Site) up Holland Street then proceed to Broadway/Teele Square and end across from Veterans Cemetery. There will be a brief ceremony immediately following the Parade at the Veterans’ Cemetery. 

The Somerville Memorial Day Parade will return to its traditional, two-mile route in 2024. 

Parking & Transit

The City of Somerville recommends parade goers use public transportation. You can take the MBTA’s red line to Davis Square, where the Somerville Memorial Day Parade begins.  
 

Watch The Parade

The ceremony will be livestreamed on the CityTV Facebook page (facebook.com/SomervilleCityTV) and broadcast after the event on GovTV (RCN channels 13 or 613; Comcast channel 22) and on the City’s YouTube channel (youtube.com/SomervilleCityTV).
 

Remembrance Ceremony

Immediately following the conclusion of the parade, the City of Somerville will hold a remembrance ceremony at Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery on Broadway between Alewife Brook Parkway and North Street.
 

Volunteer

Somerville Veterans' Services is looking for volunteers to help set up, line up, and clean up. 
 

Register Your Group

DEADLINE to “Register your Group” has passed, and we are no longer accepting applications.

Marching bands, color guards, marchers and walkers, vehicles with riders, motorcycles, and dance and drill teams are invited to register to participate in the 2023 Somerville Memorial Day Parade.
