In 2025, the Economic Development Division in collaboration with the Brazilian Heritage Community Foundation was awarded $100,000 from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Economic Development’s Urban Agenda Grant Program.

This project provided 25+ small businesses individual technical assistance hours with small business consultants. In addition, this funded small business workshop topics, that can be found in the above section.

In 2024, the Economic Development administered the Business Enrichment Program, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act as emergency federal COVID funding. This program was a two-part program, in which businesses received up to 15 hours of individua technical assistance hours with small business consultants. Upon completion of the TA hours, businesses were awarded a grant for infrastructure/equipment/improvement into their businesses. More information can be found on the Business Enrichment Program webpage.

Currently there are no active Technical Assistance Programs available for small businesses in Somerville. If programs become available, this page will be updated, and it will be announced on the Economic Development newsletter.
