The City of Somerville is pleased to announce the
kickoff meeting for the Central Broadway/Winter Hill Roadway & Streetscape Improvements Project,
held by the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Planning and
Community Development and part of the Somerville by Design process.
The meeting will be take place on Wednesday,
April 16, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Winter Hill
Community School, 115 Sycamore Street, Somerville. (Please use the Medford Street entrance.)
The project team will start with a short overview presentation to explain
the project process, followed by an open house where you can view maps of the
area, learn about preliminary site analysis, ask questions of our engineers,
landscape architects, and planners, and give feedback on what you see as the vision for the future of Central Broadway in Winter
Hill. Your concerns and ideas will help us guide the project.
The Central Broadway/Winter Hill Streetscape
Project will study existing conditions, issues, and opportunities and prepare
an urban streetscape design that improves the safety and functionality of the
corridor for all modes. The project runs along Broadway from and including the
Route 28/McGrath Highway intersection to just east of the Broadway/Medford
Street intersection where the Magoun Square improvements begin. The goal of the
redesign is to enhance, accessibility, safety, appearance, and sense of
community while preserving the unique characteristics of this active and
dynamic corridor. This project builds on the work of the Winter
Hill/Magoun Square Neighborhood Plan and is part of the larger Somerville by Design model for
neighborhood planning. Somerville by Design directly involves residents in a
creative process to develop design solutions for their neighborhood, followed
by continuous feedback, refinement, and finalized recommendations.
If you are unable to attend the meeting but want to learn more
about the project, please visit the project website and sign up for the mailing list.
The meeting location is accessible to people with disabilities. To
request language assistance, American Sign Language interpreters, assistive
listening devices, handouts in alternate formats, or information on the
meeting, please contact Gregory Flanigan at: gflanigan@reginavilla.com or

We look forward to seeing
you at public events and receiving your comments as we move forward towards a
new vision for Central Broadway. Please forward this notice to anyone you think
may have an interest in this project.
