Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, Ward 2 City Councilor J.T. Scott, and Ward 3 City Councilor Ben Ewen-Campen invite you to a public meeting for an update on the Somerville Ave. Utilities & Streetscape Improvements project and ongoing construction in the Union Square area. The meeting will be held Tuesday, June 4, at 6 p.m. in the Academy Room at the Somerville Public Safety Building, 220 Washington St.
Conway Park Contamination and PIP Plan Information Session 5/29
A public information session regarding contamination at Conway Park will be held on Wednesday, May 29, at the Public Safety Building (Police Headquarters) at 220 Washington Street, at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the Meeting is to present the Draft Public Involvement Plan (PIP) for the Site in accordance with 310 CMR 40.1405 (5)(a)(2), provide an update with respect to Site activities, and to solicit feedback from the public.
Somerville Arts Council’s Third Annual “Big Gay Dance Party” in Union Square Saturday, June 1
Celebrate Pride month in Somerville with an LGBTQ+ dance party. The event is free and open to all!
The Somerville Arts Council and the Department of Health and Human Services present the Big Gay Dance Party! In celebration of Pride Month 2019, this third annual ArtsUnion will take place on Saturday, June 1, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., in Union Square Plaza. The event features music by LUNAMARIPOSA, who will be spinning a variety of songs throughout the evening, and drag performances by Amanda Playwith and Severity Stone. The event is free and open to all ages. In addition to dancing there will be tabling by local community organizations that serve the LGBTQ+ community.
City’s SomerStreets Program Returns for 2019 First Event of the Season along East Broadway on June 2

SomerStreets: Carnaval returns for the 10th year of shaking up East Somerville! SomerStreets will kick off the 2019 season Sunday, June 2, from 2 to 6 p.m. (rain date: Sunday, June 9).
On June 2nd, enjoy the best of the East Broadway Business District and community including food, music, and activities from around the world. Programming will extend along East Broadway from McGrath Highway to Pennsylvania Ave. The festival kicks off with an opening Parade at 2 p.m. beginning at the corner of Kensington Ave. and Broadway.
Rhode Island Man Arrested for Armed Somerville Bank Robbery
When confronted by police, defendant allegedly shot at officer
A Rhode Island man was arrested and charged today in federal court in Boston in connection with an armed bank robbery in Somerville on May 1, 2019, that resulted in shots fired.
Daniel Rosado, 32, of Providence, R.I., was charged with one count of armed bank robbery, one count of brandishing and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Rosado will appear in federal court in Boston later today.
SomerVision2040 to Host Forum for Local Artists on Thursday, June 13

Somerville Historic Preservation Commission Releases Revised Events Schedule for 2019
With the annual Historic Preservation Month (May) events behind us, the Somerville Historic Preservation Commission (SHPC) announced this week a revised schedule for spring events that were postponed due to inclement weather, as well as a revised schedule for Docent Tours of the Prospect Hill Tower, the Old Power House, and the Milk Row Cemetery. Book a Sunsetters Performance in Your Neighborhood this Summer!
The Somerville Sunsetters, a youth performance group, returns for 2019. By request, Sunsetters perform on neighborhood streets at sunset in July and August.
The Somerville Sunsetters are coming to a street near you! The Sunsetters, a traveling youth performance troupe that performs classic show tunes and modern musicals in Somerville neighborhoods throughout July and August, is now booking shows for the summer 2019 season.
